When attempting to kill Makarov in Prague, they fail resulting in Makarov blowing up the rooms Price, Yuri, and Soap were in. After Yuri assisted Nikolai, Soap, and Price, Yuri joined the Task Force 141 and became dedicated in their mission of killing Makarov. These friends being Price, and a badly injured Soap. Yuri first met the Task Force 141 when Nikolai stated his "old friends" needed help. Yuri then joined Nikolai and the Loyalists due to his fuelled hatred towards Makarov. Yuri attempted to stop the Inner Circle but passed out due to blood loss when tracking them down during the massacre. Yuri was left to die by Makarov in a parking garage inside the Airport. When Yuri learned of Makarovs plan to massacre everyone at the Zakhaev International Airport, he quickly attempted to stop the attack by alerting the Federal Security Service, but was stopped by Makarov. Once Zakhaev was killed and the Inner Circle came to rise, Yuri became Second-In-Command of the Inner Circle (with Makarov as leader). Yuri and Makarov single-handedly rescued Zakhaev in Pripyat during a failed assassination. This position caused Makarov and Yuri to be close friends. His main objective in the party was to escort and defend Makarov. Yuri's determination, patriotism, and idealism gained the attention of the Ultranationalist party.
